April 25-27, 2024

A new decade, a new look and new headliners are taking the stages in downtown Norman, and the Norman Music Alliance is ready to welcome Japanese Breakfast, Parquet Courts and Tune-Yards on April 26, 27 and 28 next year for the free three-day festival.

With ten years behind “the little festival that could,” the nonprofit reached out to Matt Goad of Goad Abode to create a logo that would represent the festival instead of changing its identity every year.

Unlike previous years where most of the strong talent will line the bill on Saturday night, the talent team, made up of Quentin Bomgardner, Ryan LaCroix and Josh Boydston, have decided to space it out over the three days.

“We are really excited to host these three headliners in addition to the hundreds of local and regional bands that can apply to play through our open-call,” said Boydston, associate director at Norman Arts Council.

“Tune-Yards will have just released a new record in early 2018, after three previous, highly-regarded albums that are already the favorites of many, and the sort of performance they put on harkens back to early years of Norman Music Festival with The Polyphonic Spree, of Montreal and Dirty Projectors. To be able to add a band the caliber of Parquet Courts to the festival the Friday night prior and someone as new and buzzed about as Japanese Breakfast to kick off the festival on Thursday is a really exciting wrinkle to Oklahoma’s largest free music festival.”

Applications for bands to participate in the festival are free and open until midnight on December 15.

The mission of the Norman Music Alliance is to help develop the arts community in Oklahoma through support of local original artists, support of music fans, support of art education and support of local businesses. What started as a one-day festival has now expanded to a three-day festival with over 300 artists in downtown Norman and tens of thousands of people in attendance at Norman Music Festival 10.

ATTENTION: NMF ACTIVITIES FOR APRIL 27, 2024 HAVE BEEN CANCELLED Under an abundance of caution, the Norman Music Alliance has decided to cancel all outdoor events at Norman Music Festival as well as The Sooner Theatre today. We take seriously the safety of our volunteers, vendors, talent, stage crew, and attendees. Please contact individual indoor venues for their plan. Please pay close attention to weather today. From our friends at the National Weather Center: A volatile afternoon upcoming with tornado watches in Norman are near certainty. Storms out west could start working their way into Central Oklahoma by early afternoon with scattered storms possibly beginning here in the 2pm to 3pm time frame... becoming more numerous and more dangerous through the late afternoon and evening. A reminder that the strongest storms will bring a tornado risk, very large hail, damaging winds, and flooding rains. Heavy downpours will make tornado detection very difficult. Have a plan, charge your cell phones, and start working on changing plans for any outdoor activities this afternoon and evening. see y’all next year.
