As the year is coming to an end, Norman Music Festival 9 continues to add bands to its bill for the free festival on April 21, 22 and 23 with Nikki Lane as their first female headliner for the Depot Stage on Saturday night. Gazzo will top the bill for the EDM stage on Saturday night, and The Coathangers will be coming in from Atlanta to perform on the Opolis stage.
Nikki Lane has been touted as a modern-era Wanda Jackson. This country music singer-songwriter released her last album All or Nothin’ in 2014, produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. She is currently working on her third LP in New York at the Electric Lady studio through New West Records.
Performing at the Depot Stage on Saturday Night alongside Lane will be Jacob Tovar and the Saddle Tramps, Samantha Crain, Promised Land Sound and Shawn James & the Shapeshifters.
The EDM stage will return to the free festival on Saturday night with Gazzo from Los Angeles closing the night. Crystal Vision from Oklahoma City will also be back on the stage located on Gray Street.
At the Sooner Theatre on Friday night, local talent Tallows will present The Soft Exchange Pt. 2 featuring choreography from local dancers Maggie Boyett, Kathleen McKenna and more.
The Norman Music Alliance has kicked off their first ever “Tip the Bands” campaign on Kickstarter, which will be closing next week. All money generated by the Kickstarter will go to paying for the bands that apply for the open-call, which closes on Dec. 20.
The mission of the Norman Music Alliance is to help develop the arts community in Oklahoma through support of local original artists, support of music fans, support of art education and support of local businesses. What started as a one-day festival has now grown and expanded to a three-day festival with over 300 artists in downtown Norman and over 80,000 people in attendance at Norman Music Festival 8.
