April 25-27, 2024

NORMAN, OK – Norman Music Festival will welcome The Drums, DIIV and Wet as 2022 headliners for the April 28-30 event in the Walker Arts District.

New for 2022 will also be a Friday night Main Street outdoor-stage lineup, including DIIV, Husbands, Fat Tony, Babeheaven and more.

Luna Luna, Dreamgirl, Blac Rabbit, The Ivy and Lust Online will kick off NMF outdoors Thursday.

Saturday’s outdoor headliners will include The Drums (Performing Portamento), Wet, …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, Mothica and Spaceface.

In March 2020, Norman Music Festival — a free, three-day, non-profit music festival held each spring in The Walker Arts District  — was weeks away from presenting one of its heartiest events yet. With strong community support and a celebrated lineup, NMF looked to only be booming as loud as ever come April. As the world came crashing to a halt, and in committing to Norman’s greater community health, the festival was forced to cancel for two consecutive years.

“For NMF, the first to shut down and the last to return, it has been a challenging time that only amplified how important community festivals are to the local economy, community activity and Norman’s sense of city spirit,” NMF Executive Director Shari Jackson said.

Since the festival’s inception in 2008, Norman Music Festival has helped elevate local music, showcase diverse voices and introduced touring headliners from around the world to Oklahoma, drawing patrons not only from the Sooner State but increasingly from the surrounding region to witness performances from past headliners like Portugal. The Man, Japanese Breakfast, Beach Fossils, Oh Sees, Omar Apollo, Ty Segall, Soccer Mommy, Dirty Projectors, Leon Russell, Black Milk and more.

“With the support of partners like Norman Arts Council, Fowler Auto, Absolut, The Garage, The Winston, Notorious P.I.E. and so many others that have been with us for years, we’re back,” Jackson said. “We have been hashtagging ourselves with #NMFForever and #TheLittleFestivalThatCould because we are. It goes with saying that all of us involved with NMF are beyond excited to see people in Norman, in the Walker Arts District, listening to live music in just a couple of months.”

Founded in 2008 as a one-day event, Norman Music Festival is presented by the Norman Music Alliance, a volunteer-run non-profit entity. For more information about NMF, visit NormanMusicFestival.com or via social media platforms.

ATTENTION: NMF ACTIVITIES FOR APRIL 27, 2024 HAVE BEEN CANCELLED Under an abundance of caution, the Norman Music Alliance has decided to cancel all outdoor events at Norman Music Festival as well as The Sooner Theatre today. We take seriously the safety of our volunteers, vendors, talent, stage crew, and attendees. Please contact individual indoor venues for their plan. Please pay close attention to weather today. From our friends at the National Weather Center: A volatile afternoon upcoming with tornado watches in Norman are near certainty. Storms out west could start working their way into Central Oklahoma by early afternoon with scattered storms possibly beginning here in the 2pm to 3pm time frame... becoming more numerous and more dangerous through the late afternoon and evening. A reminder that the strongest storms will bring a tornado risk, very large hail, damaging winds, and flooding rains. Heavy downpours will make tornado detection very difficult. Have a plan, charge your cell phones, and start working on changing plans for any outdoor activities this afternoon and evening. see y’all next year.
