Chris Schat has been a part of the Oklahoma music scene for about a decade-starting in the synth-rock group Walking Relic in 2008.
In February 2018, Chris started to play solo shows around Norman, and OKC as Schat and The Skeleton Trees. In the summer, Chris added a drummer to fill out the sound and has currently played 20 shows as Schat and The Skeleton Trees around Norman, OKC and Ada.
Chris normally has two separate sets he does with completely different songs as Schat and The Skeleton Trees. The first is the solo set in which most songs are acoustic in nature. The second set he does as Schat and The Skeleton Trees is a full electric post punk/new wave revival set inspired by Joy Division, Tears for Fears, The Cure and Oklahoma local band The Dresden Bombers.
In December, Chris is teaming up with Trent Bell to record the song “Hang On” which is a song written for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
