A native of Oklahoma, Nicolette is a singer-songwriter who recently began writing and performing with the encouragement of her guitar instructor and local artist, Gregg Standridge.
Nicolette began playing guitar with friends as a teenager and played casually for years. As an adult, playing guitar was a way to wind down in the evenings after a days’ work and the rigor of raising two energetic boys. After the kids were grown, she began taking lessons again and started writing and performing at Norman Music Institute’s Adult Showcases, began performing at open mic nights and joined the Song Writer’s Association of Norman to perform her original songs.
Her heartfelt songs tell stories about life past and present, some sad, some humorous, in the hope that listeners can connect and relate to the stories. Her most recent influences are Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin, Eliza Gilkyson and local favorite Carter Sampson.
